GATESHEAD

Manager: Ian Bogie
Stadium: Gateshead International Stadium
Capacity: 11,750
Nickname: The Tynesiders or The Heed

History: Founder members of the Northern Premier League, Gateshead were a league side up to the end of the Second World War before they were dismissed. They have been a yo-yo side over the years being promoted and relegated to and from the Conference on several occasions, with their best spell lasting 8 years before they were relegated again in 1998. The 2007/08 season saw Gateshead finish third in the Unibond Premier League, earning promotion to the Blue Square North and a second promotion was achieved when they beat AFC Telford 1-0 in the Conference North play off last season to reach the Conference.

Key Player: Daryl Clare Daryl has been extremely important for Gateshead this season and his 13 goals were enough for |Gateshead to stay up. He started his career with Grimsby Town making 93 appearances before moving to Boston United, after loan spells at Northampton and Cheltenham. A two-time winner of the Conference Golden Boot, having scored 175 goals for 6 clubs, Daryl has also played for Chester City, Burton Albion, Crawley Town, Rushden & Diamonds and Mansfield before joining Gateshead.

Final League Position: 20th
The Gateshead fans will be delighted to have survived relegation in their debut season in the Blue Square Premier. A final day win against AFC Wimbledon was enough and Ian Bogie and the players will hope to build on that for next season.
