History: Mansfield have also plied their trade in the Football League between 1931 and 2008. The 1970s has proven to be the most successful era for Mansfield to date, as they clinched the Division 4 title and then won promotion to the second tier of English football in 1977. The 1990s saw the club go into decline as they were relegated to the bottom division in 1991. Although they won promotion back to Division 2 in 2002, they were relegated the following season and were eventually relegated from the Football League in 2008.

Key Player: Richard Duffy The former Wales Under-21 international has been in excellent form this season scoring 15 goals. Richard started his career at Charlton Athletic before moving onto Rushden & Diamonds in 2001. He later joined Oxford United in 2006 where he scored 24 goals in 47 appearances before leaving due to the clubs financial difficulties. Richard had a brief loan spell at Wrexham at the end of 2007/08 season before moving to Mansfield.

Final League Position: 9th
Mansfield just missed out on the play-offs, but will look to be right in the mix next season.
