History: Stevenage were formed in 1976 but didn’t earn senior club status until 1980. In their first season, they won the United Counties Division One championship before switching to the Isthmian League Division Two, also winning that in their first season. The 1990’s saw Stevenage evolve. They won back to back promotions from Ryman League Division Two North and Division One North, before reaching the Conference in 1994. In only their second season in the Conference, Stevenage clinched the title but were denied promotion due to ground regulations. Since then they have reached the play-offs on two occasions; losing in the final in 2003 and semi-final in 2008.
Key player: Yemi Odubade Nigerian born Yemi has been the club’s top performer this year, scoring 15 goals that have helped Stevenage gain promotion to the Football League. He started his at Eastbourne Town before moving to Yeovil Town. Yemi has also had spells at Eastbourne Borough and Oxford United before signing for Stevenage at the start of the season.

Stevenage topped an excellent season by claiming the Blue Square Premier title. They will certainly be looking forward to playing league football next season and will be eyeing a league and cup double when they play Barrow in the FA Trophy Final at Wembley on Saturday 8th May.
